MLSSoccer.com ranks Seattle Sounders’ Stefan Frei as No. 1 goalkeeper in Audi 2016 MLS Cup Playoffs

Major League Soccer has ranked the Seattle Sounders’ Stefan Frei as the No. 1 goalkeeper in the Audi 2016 MLS Cup Playoffs so far.

Frei kept a clean sheet against Sporting Kansas City in the Western Conference Knockout Round on Oct. 27 and against FC Dallas in the first leg of the Western Conference Semifinals on Oct. 30, giving him three career postseason shutouts with the Sounders. The veteran goalkeeper has 10 total saves in the current playoffs, including vital stops on Sporting’s Kevin Ellis and Benny Feilhaber to help Seattle advance.

He's also unbeaten all-time in the postseason at CenturyLink Field (5-0-1).

Frei has a 0.89 GAA in nine career postseason matches. Seattle will battle FC Dallas in the second leg of the conference finals on Sunday in Frisco, Texas (6 p.m. PT; FS1, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360AM).
