2025 RECORDS AND STANDINGS: Sounders: 1-1-1 (4 points, 8th West), St. Louis: 1-0-2 (5 points, 6th West)

PREVIOUS MEETING: The Sounders defeated St. Louis CITY 2-0 at Lumen Field in Seattle on July 17, 2024, behind an own goal from Tim Parker and a goal from Jonathan Bell on either side of halftime.

SOCCER GODS GIVETH AND TAKETH AWAY: Just about everything went right for the Sounders last Saturday in a 5-2 mauling of LAFC at home. But just three days later, Seattle fell 4-1 at Cruz Azul in Mexico City to bow out of the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup in the Round of 16.

INJURY ISSUES: After losing Designated Player Pedro de la Vega early on against LAFC, the Sounders lost Paul Arriola and Jordan Morris each to injuries at Cruz Azul on Tuesday.

ALL SEATTLE: It’s been one-way traffic in this series since St. Louis entered MLS in 2023. The Sounders are a perfect 4-0-0 against the Missourians, outscoring them 9-1.

NEW MAN IN CHARGE: Former Manager Bradley Carnell is now at the helm in Philadelphia, and in his stead is former Swedish international Olof Mellberg. He joined St. Louis from IF Brommapojkarna in Sweden’s top flight.

BRICK WALL: St. Louis CITY is the only one of 30 MLS teams that has not conceded so far this season. The club is only the fifth team in the last decade and 11th overall in MLS history to open the campaign with three consecutive clean sheets. They are led by star goalkeeper Roman Bürki, who is the reigning MLS Player of the Matchday after his eight-save effort in a win over the LA Galaxy.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Cedric Teuchert, F

The former Germany youth international joined St. Louis last summer after a successful stint in the 2.Bundesliga with Hannover 96. Teuchert had five goals and four assists in just 762 minutes last season and is coming off a goal-and-assist, MLS Team of the Matchday performance in last week’s victory over LA.
