The Seattle Sounders are visiting the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday in their first of two meetings in the regular season. Here is everything you need to know:

WHEN AND WHERE: Kickoff is at 6 p.m. PT at BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

WHERE TO WATCH: The match will be available to watch on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

WHERE TO LISTEN: The match will air on 93.3 KJR FM and El Rey 1360AM.

2025 RECORDS AND STANDINGS: Sounders: 7-5-5 (26 points, 4th West), Whitecaps: 9-1-5 (32 points, 1stWest)

FORM GUIDE (all competitions, most recent first): Seattle: LWWDL, Vancouver: LDWDD

PREVIOUS MEETING: The Sounders traveled north of the border on Oct. 2, 2024, and returned with three points by way of a 3-0 win. Georgi Minoungou, Albert Rusnák and Paul Rothrock got on the score sheet for Seattle, while Fafa Picault was sent off late for the ‘Caps.

CASCADIA CLASH: This weekend’s match will be the second Cascadia Cup match this season for each team. Vancouver leads with three points, while Portland and Seattle each have one.

INTERNATIONAL ABSENCES: The Sounders will be without forward Osaze De Rosario (Guyana), Stuart Hawkins (U.S. U-19) and Reed Baker-Whiting (U.S. U-20) for this weekend’s match while they are away on international duty. The Whitecaps were hit hard with international call-ups and will notably be missing forward Brian White (U.S.), midfielder Sebastian Berhalter (U.S.), midfielder Andrés Cubas (Paraguay), midfielder Pedro Vite (Ecuador), midfielder Jayden Nelson (Canada), midfielder Ali Ahmed (Canada) and defender Sam Adekugbe (Canada).

FINAL TUNEUP: Sunday will be Seattle’s final MLS match before it embarks on a historic FIFA Club World Cup journey on June 15. The Sounders will welcome Brazil’s Botafogo, Spain’s Atlético Madrid and the recently crowned UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain to Lumen Field.

WESTERN CONFERENCE GAUNTLET: Sunday will also be the Sounders’ third of three consecutive matches against the top three teams in the West. Seattle defeated second-place San Diego FC 1-0 last Wednesday before dropping a 3-2 result to third-place Minnesota United over the weekend.

BABY JESÚS: After missing last weekend’s match due to the birth of his child, Sounders forward Jesús Ferreira should be good to go in Vancouver.

Kickoff at 7:30 p.m. PT on June 28.

CONCACAF HUMBLING: The Whitecaps went down to Mexico City last weekend aiming to join the Sounders as the only MLS teams to win the modern version of the Concacaf Champions Cup. Instead, Liga MX’s Cruz Azul won 5-0, including taking a 4-0 lead into halftime.

LEADING THE PACK: However disappointing the CCC result was, Vancouver has been the best team in MLS through the halfway point of the season. Led by first-year Head Coach Jesper Sørensen, the ‘Caps are first in the league in Points Per Game (2.13) and Goals Allowed (12) and have lost just once in 15 contests. Vancouver is also third in Expected Goals (34.95) despite playing two fewer matches than most other teams.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Emmanuel Sabbi, F

The obvious answer would be White, who is tied for third in the Golden Boot race with 10 goals in just over 1,000 minutes, but he’s gone with the United States Men’s National Team. It’s next man up for the ‘Caps, who will likely rely on Sabbi to lead the line up front. The 27-year-old has two goals and two assists in a little more than 500 minutes this season, his first since joining from Ligue 1 side Le Havre back in February.
