Major League Soccer has nominated Seattle Sounders midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro for Week 28 Goal of the Week for his first goal in a 4-2 win over the New York Red Bulls on Sunday.
The excellent team sequence began with right back Kelvin Leerdam supplying a through-ball for Cristian Roldan, who then clipped a cross toward the back post. Jordan Morris then redirected the ball into the six-yard box with an acrobatic header, and Lodeiro was on-hand produce to a poacher’s finish, giving Seattle an early 2-0 lead.
The Sounders now turn their sights toward a home match against FC Dallas at CenturyLink Field on Wednesday (7:30 p.m. PT; JOEtv, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM | TICKETS)
