Zach Scott, Marco Pappa no longer eligible for MLS Re-Entry Draft

Longtime Sounders FC defender Zach Scott will no longer be eligible for selection in Stage One of the MLS Re-Entry Draft on Friday, and winger Marco Pappa has also been removed from the league’s list of eligible players.

MLS released the updated list of 48 players available for Stage One on Friday morning. The draft will take place at 12:00 p.m. PT. The Sounders opted not to pick up the options on the contracts for Scott, Pappa and seven other players last week.

Defender and 2009 Sounders original Leo Gonzalez is the only 2015 Sounders player available for selection on Friday.

Out-of-contract players who are at least 23 and have a minimum of three years of MLS experience or are at least 25 with a minimum of four years of league experience are eligible for Re-Entry. Players selected in Stage One of the Re-Entry Draft will be able to sign with their new club for their current contract option for 2016.

Players unselected in Stage One will be eligible for Stage Two; selection from Stage Two will negotiate new deals with their respective clubs.
